ABOUT MARIA LUISA
Photography Olivier Zahm
Maria Luisa Poumaillou is a genuine bloodhound when it comes to sniffing out young talent. It all began in 1988 when she opened her first store with her husband Daniel on the rue Cambon in Paris. With little experience in the fashion business, the new owner relied on her personal taste, quickly developing a knack for locating promising designers, from the then-unknown John Galliano to Alexander McQueen, Helmut Lang, Martin Margiela, Nicolas Ghesquière, Riccardo Tisci and Christopher Kane. Since then, the native Venezuelan has become internationally renowned for her alternative take on fashion, with a boutique within Paris's legendary Printemps Department Store, stand alone stores in Hong Kong and Qatar, and a worldwide online presence via thecorner.com.
