JACQUEMUS AW20 MEN’S AND WOMEN’S COLLECTION

‘I was seven the day I cut a skirt for my mum out of a linen curtain’. These are the words with which Simon Porte Jacquemus, a young French designer, presented ‘L’ANNÉE 97’, that’s his men’s and women’s collection for Autumn-Winter 2020/21, during PFW-Paris Fashion Week. For the occasion, Jacquemus enlisted an array of top models. In fact, opening the fashion show was model and actress Laetitia Casta, who after 10 years of absence from the catwalks made a great comeback. Inside the Paris La Défense Arena, models such as Gigi and Bella Hadid, Adut Akeck, Vittoria Ceretti and Doutzen Kroes then walked down the runway. This collection represents a return to the origins for the the South of France-born designer, who rediscovered the minimalistic purity of his first creations. Mostly resorting to cotton, linen and wool in hues of white, beige, brown and green for the realisation of his winter proposal. Simon Porte Jacquemus matched bra tops, tight skirts and wonderful draped garments complementing the feminine curves with bags of all types and sizes. As well as over-the-knee boots with sculptural heels, geometrically-shaped pieces of jewelry, leather sandals with ankle strap and earrings, necklaces and bracelets with gold-coloured shells. Lastly, still on the subject of accessories, the iconic ‘Le Chiquito’ bag turned into a silver charm decorating necklaces and bracelets, for both men and women.
